Default Quick E-fan Question

Hello, I have a 1988 740 and just installed an E-fan from a 940 using the Volvo relay that goes along with the 940 setup.

The E-fan runs great if I take the two wires from the temperature switch and hold them together. However, when connected to the 92*C on 87*C off temperature switch the fan will not come on. After touching the wires on the temp switch together and then reinstalling them onto the switch the fan will sometimes turn on and stay on until it gets to the 87* but will not come back on when the engine gets past the 92*.

Does it sound like I messed up somewhere or if it's a new DOA temperature switch?

Thanks for any help

Plenty of info out there about these.
Consensus seems to be you can't use the 740 temp switch with them.
You are better off getting a Davies Craig efan relay kit and ditching the 940 relay.

Other option is to use a temp switch from a bmw/saab in the upper radiator hose.

Hello JimmyMelbs and thank you for the response.

Turned out to be a bad temperature switch. Brand new Vernet Calorstat screw in type temperature switch was DOA. I believe this is the same type of switch as the in-line type you mention.

Put in the used 92* on 82*C off one I had and it's working perfectly. I will return the dead one and see if the replacement works as intended.

Thanks again
