what rear springs for 780?

Hello,
Hope you are all safe and healthy. I want to lower my volvo 780. I will be doing BCRacing coilovers in the front. For the back I do not want to pay $850 for Ben's coilovers so I will be buying a shock and spring. What spring will fit the rear without a spacer or other modification and provide a good drop?
Thanks in advance,
Adam

Ask BC what their spring rate is in front so we can help with a rear rate.
While waiting indefinitely, search for stock car springs and stuff here. I think we just answered this question with lots of links recently.

OK, I did it for you.

and the 53mm sleeves that fit without sanding the whole tube:

You will probably end up with an 11" rear spring between 150# and 225#, a shorter shock, and a pair of cones to locate the end that is usually a pigtail. Or you can find a pigtail spring, or go full-caveman and make a pigtail on a standard spring with a torch and a lot of teeth-gnashing.
Remember to go at least 50% higher in front. If you READ, you will understand why.

7/9 series shocks are a little longer than 240, so you can use something similar to what has been done on 240s.
7/9 series has a 12mm shock sleeve top and bottom, 240 has 1/2" on one end, 12mm on the other.

Have you been able to find a single person who is happy with their BC racing coilovers?
 There is a reason besides the price why I have three pairs of BC front coilovers(2x240 1x960 FL).

Though looking from here the difference in price compared to Kaplhenke is pretty high.

Is the 780 not IRS then?

If I remember correctly, their standard front spring for 200/700/900 is only 4kg/224lbs. No idea why so soft but it can be changed when ordering with no extra cost.

Matt Dupris posted ages ago that he'd put rear springs from a '91 Previa in his 1988 780, which eventually became my car.

According to his post, the rate for these things is about 230 lbs/in at the wheels.

I'm not sure if these were still fitted when I bought the car, but I found the springs in there at present feel a bit too soft for me. At least that was the impression I got from an interstate trip of about 1,200 miles, particularly at a cruising speed of about 60-70 MPH on the roads between Gundagai and Tamworth, which are like what you'd call county roads in the US.

^I did this to my '89 780, they are not performance springs or shocks but work well with stock front springs. You just have to fabricate something for the top of the shock to bolt through. I made a bar for each side out of 1/4" plate, approx 3/4 wide and long enough to straddle the bolt holes for the nivomats, rounded off at the ends to fit inside the spring housing.

Lower spring mount

I will be making my own koni coilovers. I just dont know how to sort the lower shock mount. The piece of bent tubing with the two bolts that connects to the trailing arm? Can I reuse the ones from my nivos or?
