960/v90 rear end options

Hey all,

Working on an LS1/4l60e swap into a 1998 v90. So far so good, the big bits fit.

Now for the kicker......3.73's in the back with those tiny, tiny tires....yikes!!

Any way to re-gear the rear end with something a little friendlier? 2500 rpm's at 70 mph....great power but not necessary in a car this light with that much power...

or, failing that, anybody swap to a different rear end in this type of vehicle? ford 8.8 IRS?

Thanks!

Everything about the design is different. I don't know whether it will bolt in or not. I don't think there is a single part shared between the 2 designs.

Yeah, Right bought a MK2 IRS from a friend of mine years ago with the intention of installing it in his 490 WHP 740 race car. I don't know if he ever went down that path. You might try sending him a PM and see if he knows about the gear interchange. He owns 2 high end Volvo shops and has been around these cars forever. He also daily drove a 400+ HP 960 whiteblock Turbo sedan as his DD.

Yeah right he gave that to me years ago also then I gave it to farm boy (phil from RSI) and he took it back to his nut farm near corn valley more towards Monmouth and put it in the rear of his redblock powered farm vehicle go cart truck thing. The later style IRS only kind like it on the planet besides a corvette with that fiberglass single leaf spring thing.
