Yardie Gold A 940 Turbo

Hi all my name is Jonathan and i've owned around 17 or so volvos ( can't get enough).

I went through a few volvo models. It started with 2 99 xc70's and then progressed to 2 98 xc70, 2 S70 T5, a s70 N/a, a 94 850 n/a, a 94 850 turbo, a 940 non turbo, a 91 940 se, 92 245, a v90, a 92 940 turbo (the current car), a 964, an n/a 940 parts car and my other car in the stable my 16v 945 Gle. Here are some pictures!

So i ended up settling on buying this car

It was decent in the pictures but the paint wasn't the best. Didn't care much though as I'd still make it look cool.

Ive spent the past 2 or so months collecting parts for it.

My first purchase for the car was an IPD 25mm rear sway bar. It made a huge difference over stock.

Then since my shocks were blown I replaced them with a set of bilstein Hd in the rear. That also helped firm up the ride.

here you can see the stock waterfall grille and the turbo grille before I modified it. keep in mind i was taking care of the looks of the car first, I know I know performance first.

Well in searching I found an M90 transmission for a sweet deal that I couldn't resist, so I snagged that up too.

I got tired of the steel sun roof and put in a glass one from one of my parts 960's

The Plans for the car as it sits right now are;
Swap the new engine in.
Bolt the k24 up.
Swap the axles out and weld the diff.
collect the transmissions.
Eventually swap to an irs rear end.
Change the front end or get a 93 850 bumper and see what it looks like.

Busy busy! Why do you want to swap to the IRS?

Well there are a number of reasons:
1. I can use a proper coilover setup.
2. I won't have to worry about the driveshaft and axle hitting the body when I lower it.
3. I love camber.

Ok I'll shoot you a message in a day or so once I start taking the current engine out.

Fun project. You are taking it in the direction I wanted my 9 to go.

Yep two of them! one for my 16v wagon and one for the turbo.

Put the new door, trunk, bonnet and cowl panel on. Hopefully a buff will get the paint on the replaced parts up to par. As far as the body is concerned it needs a repaint on the roof but I will save that till later this year or next.

Anyone know if I can just swap the cam gears between the two engines or would I need to swap other components as well?
 
Mmm, gold with black trim looks really sharp on the 7xx/9xx cars. That red reflector dress panel looks a bit weird on the gold paint though, I might consider tinting it or something. Make it closer to black but still reflective perhaps?

Send me your passenger side headlight, mine is broken :grrr:
 
updates updates,

So the last few weeks have been filled with annoyance with the car.

First the timing belt broke, fixed that.

then the car started over heating fixed that. or so i thought.
ive been tracing the leaks down. till one night the lower radiator hose goes POP WOOSH in the driveway.

anyways i bought one of these for dirt cheap.

Did some maintenance to the car, going to end up doing the headgasket soon, the car looks like it's due.

and needs a heatercore blah!

BUT i'm working in a car shop now so i have access to a warm garage. hoping to get everything done in a timely fashion
 
actually all through different people. i just have a friend in the uk that i have them shipped to. he then ships them to me.

my car seriously needs to be lowered. but for now this should be the last day with the fittipaldi wheels on the car.
