240 AW71 OD trouble

Bump for a question about O-rings on the solenoid.

Would an undersized(smaller in thickness, it doesn't fill the entire seal channel) inner o-ring prevent it from being able to lock out of OD? This question is about my car. I got a working solenoid to replace the grooved solenoid. I somehow misplaced the inner o-ring, but found another that is almost like it. It kicks into OD but when I hit the button(light comes on on the dash), it doesn't kick out of it?

Yes.

I think you've found a new, unique way to break the OD. :-P

No burnt traces, just a couple cracked solder joints. Hated the thought of replacing a solid, well built Volvo relay for a light weight MTC/Aftermarket POS...

Just curious about this... did you indeed find it necessary to replace the relay? Did you attempt to reflow the old one? Did the old one click, but not operate the solenoid?
