![]() Since the fuel gauge in the 740 doesn't work, and I have the tank torn down for the fuel pump upgrade I figured I would dissect the level sender. All the wiring checked out with a multimeter so I moved on to the float assembly and found that at the bottom of one of the resistor rods that the float slides up and down. One of the wires was broken. I haven't been able to find anything on repairing this tiny wire, but the new sending units are about $400 from what I can see haha.
If any of you have a tip on repair, or maybe have a broken unit that I can use for one of the resistors. Plz let me know.

![]() I suggest put a listing in wanted. Someone may have a good used sender for you. I never heard of the windings ever being sold as a separate part. You'd have to roll your own and solder on new wire to it. You could try some transformer windings but it may not be the correct wire gauge. You'll want the same wire gauge so the resistance is comparable to the original.
Also try shopping for an aftermarket sender. They are much cheaper than the volvo stuff.
