BNE update: Medium Brake Kit Options for adding Brembos to a 240

Yes,

We do have a medium rear upgrade too. Not ready quite yet to release it or details... hopefully soon.

Ben, Depending on what diameter rotors are being used, there's upwards of ~15-20% brake bias migration towards the front with your design.

Yes, that is correct.

The rear upgrade should help keep it even, there are also the reduction valves that can be modified to keep the bias even without changing the rear components.

I've got the full R set for my 245 but I've been kind of thinking I'd rather run 16"s.

I dont have the R's but ive been wanting to find a way to get to a 16" but finding a wide enough tire in a tire that I want is becoming impossible.

Your best bet is a 225 50 16. Thats the most common "wide" tire that's offered.

You can also get 245 45 16 as a wider option, that's OE for some porsche stuff so its still available but you pay porsche prices.

Dunlop still has the 200tw Direzza available in 225/45/16 as well, which is what I run on the rear of my car. Excellent tire.

I was hoping to get even larger than that but then you get into tall sidewalls.

245 45 are pretty wide. They are ideal for 8" to 9" wide wheels. Thats not horrible. Are you planning on flaring the car? You cant go much wider without serious modifications.

Put them on the 240 under the sirius.

They take a 20mm spacer to clear the spoke profile

IMO 240s have too much rear bias to start with, so this is not necessarily a terrible thing...

I have found that to be true as well.

It sounds like we have different preferences on car setup

I've always found 240s to handle better with more rear bias. Even with no rear proportioning valves a 240 will still lock up the front tires in straight line braking.

Can we expected similar kit for 7/9? I would really appreciate 320mm 4 pots that can fit under 16" wheels

That hasn't been my experience, but perhaps you're not getting your tires warm enough before you try braking. 8)

Seriously though, you make a good point; personal preference and specific application needs to be factored in. My experiences tracking a very small number (3) of 240s, all wagons, says they have too much rear brake stock, and big rear brakes just make it worse.

I have no idea what a road-going 240 would want, but it's probably not what I want. 8)

What’s the weight on the wagons and weight distribution?
My stripped out and caged mk2 GTI had less rear weight distribution than stock, so it ran cheap cheap pads out back and bigger brakes up front. But that car was like 67% front.

Pad compounds are also a good way to balance a system. The pads I'm running now with the 286mm rotors and brembos have significantly less u then factory volvo pads but they also don't dust at all and are silent, which I'm ok with for the moment.
