![]() The long tensioner bolt on the power steering bracket (the one from the AC compressor pulley to PS pump pulley) sheared off today.
Can someone please help me with the p/n#? Is it the same as the one use for the alternator p/n#1336962? ![]() Or if there’s dimensions for the bolt that I can find at the local HW store? Thanks. |

![]() Assuming this is for a 240, the adjusting screw was never available separately. It comes as an assembly.
https://www.ipdusa.com/products/1658...-volvo-9146071 That said, if you can get the old bolt out and measure the length you can get a long M6 bolt at any good hardware store. |

![]() You're supposed the back off the tension of this bolt after tightening all the other bolts. Not doing this is what causes this bolt to break.

exactly, the skinny bolt is only for holding tension as you secure the nut holding the belt tight, then back off the skinny bolt. you might have to order the bolt, long skinny M6 bolts without shoulders are not as common. |

![]() Didn’t know that but I’ve backed it off this time. Got the bolt from McMaster as none of the local stores carry an M6 x 1.0 80mm bolt.

![]() That M6 bolt on the power steering pump is too fragile. It's broken TWICE on my car. In 2017 I changed it to an M8 setup.
This one (both pics below) Mitsubishi alternator tensioner bolt. $23 on ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Alternator-...l/201878859776 There's a cheaper one by Dorman for $11, but it gives no bolt size info, so I'm not certain if it's M8. https://www.amazon.com/Dorman-917-14.../dp/B01N2VLBFX Dave B

I am pretty sure I've replied to you before about how that bolt is only designed to be under tension when adjusting the belt tension, and not otherwise. You are doing it wrong those parts do look nice though Last edited by apachechef; 09-18-2020 at 03:58 PM.. |

![]() Well aware of that. Nothing ever vibrates loose in any of your cars?
