Default 940 Starter/No Start

So my starter I figured went bad on my 940. I was trying to get it started but it wouldn't start anymore then I had my dad try and start it while I watched under the hood and saw smoke coming from by the starter. So I ended up removing that starter and going to get it tested and came out that it obviously was not any good. I bought a new starter and now it's still not starting with the new one. Any ideas? Is there a fusible link cable

Haha it also helps when you have a working starter. O'Reilly's sold me a starter that didn't even work. I bench tested it and got nothing. So I went to return it and exchanged it for a brand new one. Just put it on and starts right up now.
