Disassembling 240/260 power mirror 75-85

Hi,

I recently got a pair of the early version power mirrors. The paint is flaking off, and I'm going to respray them. However, I would like to respray only the housing without the mirror, motor and plastic bits.

Does anyone have instructions how to disassemble it?

Thanks for the tip! I'm looking into it now. As I've understood, you have to start by removing the glass. There's a youtube video of how to with a heat gun:

Instead of using a heat gun to make the glue sticky I sprayed something called "Label off" between the mirror and the baseplate. Then the mirror was easily removed. However, removing the mirror didn't help me understand how the plastic housing is mounted to the aluminium housing. Any ideas?

Drill those four plastic rivets open. Then you will find mechanism, it is attached to mirror frame with two screws. Those might be frozen. everything gotta get away before you can remove plastic frame.
