240 AW70 to M47 swap question

In looking at the diagrams here https://www.volvopartswebstore.com/products/Volvo/1993/240-23l-Fuel-Injected/Support-Plate/1149813/463087.html on both sides of the flywheel it shows what is called a support plate #463087, the question is are these needed? I don't see the same parts being used for the torque converter. I'll be using a flat flywheel if that makes any difference. Any advice is appreciated.

No, you don't need that plate. Also you have you have to remove spacer(in the middle) and install pilot bearing.

On the later flex plates the outer reinforcement washer is spot welded to the flex plate. The bolts are the same for both the flywheel and flex plate.
