Front Drop

Since a stock 240 appears to be higher in the front than the rear, (optical illusion due to the greater wheel gap in the front) I'm thinking of cutting a coil off the front GT springs I acquired and leave the rear alone. (or, maybe replace the rear with wagon springs for a similar spring rate) I've installed IPD bars and will replace the shocks when I take the suspension apart.
I'm looking for sharper turn in and flatter cornering. Or would it be better to drop front and rear the same? (I've read that IPD's sport springs drop the front a tad more than the rear so that's why I'm thinking this way) I have not installed the GT springs yet.
What say you all?

Don't do the even at the fenders n00brake thing.

Rear overloads will match the spring rates of the GT springs nicely, although you may need to cut them a turn or so if they are for wagon.

7/8" rake max measured at the front & back of rockers, or it'll be way twitchy.

You can't uncut, install GT springs and see if its to your liking, if not cut.... then realize it probably still wont be and get coilovers. :-P

n00brake thing???

GT springs same ride height as stock 1984 front springs? (in other words, forget the look and go for added stiffness)

You need balanced rates front and rear so it doesn't porpoise in rough ground or transitions.

IPD springs with the dead coil cut out of the back will do fine. It will leave a very nice slight rake, as opposed to the horrid rake I had on my wagon before I removed the dead coil.

Nooooo.... not interested in that kind of rake. Surely cutting the dead coil off the front GT springs will result in less than an inch drop.
I guess though, the ideal is an even drop front and rear. (what chair said) Actually, in 70-80s trim most rear drive Euros had that front-high attitude.

West-East Coast translation: Don't make it look like you're braking all the time.

Here's a pic showing the attitude of my car now. Maybe I'll just install the 79 GT front springs along with firmer shocks (36K mile car has original shocks) and see how she feels.

You missed the wide bottom thread redwood.

Front looks fine....you just need to either raise the back or buy ipd coils for all 4 corners.

just take a coil off the front. In my experience one coil off the front actually tightens things up and makes the car handle and feel better, and it will give you the look you are after
