Cast aluminum paint it is!

Looks like going with a shorter rail and aftermarket FPR would likely do the trick.

Looks good! Any reason you couldn't just stack a set of gt plates under the strut brace and move it up slightly?

I just really, really, really want to drive this. Just around the block. One time. It'll be fast.

With any amount of engine movement, it would likely contact still. I appreciate the suggestion--once I get this thing running and driving I will try it out. There's a lot to get done before iPd!

Tom, we could attempt to rebracket the brace and move it up a little bit as well if you want. The other option is Rich can mill out some aluminum spacers as well.

Looks like I should bust out the playdough and see how much clearance there is before it hits the hood.

What are you going to do if you need to jumpstart the car?

Good question. Although I was talking about the wiring and getting it out of the engine bay.

Pop the hood and connect the ground cable to a bolt head in the block and the positive cable to the E36 distribution block/remote postive battery terminal.

I suppose I should finish installing that and take a picture.

when you did your sound deadening (i'm sure you said it, but I'm too lazy to look) did you also use any foam padding, or MLV?

I haven't done all of it yet, but in addition to the rattle trap sound deadening, I am also using 1/8" closed-cell foam as a decoupler and 1 lb per sq ft MLV as a sound barrier.
