Dubbelvla: a 245 with an M50

Nice, nice. Good to see you found a spot so near to the city. I got a space in the Rivierenbuurt, but I cannot wrench too much. Ah well, better then nothing.

oh god an s14 swapped 2002, why are you bothering with the volvo, your life is already complete...

well they dont have any spare workspace for rent next year?
No unfortunately.

Ask this guy what booster he's running if the BMW booster don't work http://forums.turbobricks.com/showthread.php?t=257601

What color code is that yellow? I like it

Will do if it don't. Color is 128. You gotta love the seventies! ;)

You're right, it's a brilliant car. But I love the 245 too. It has some flaws especially in handling, but it has lots of character! Nobody hates a Swede. ;)
The 2002 has a s14b20 at the moment with a ported head, 272/264 cams and Maxx Alpha-N. Next step will be a s14b25 transplant which I have waiting for it. It has 11.5 cr pistons and will get more aggressive cams (think 292/284) and I plan on a 325ix Touring rear end swap (ventilated discs). But that will take place in a year or two. Taking my time, taking my time.

Anyway, a few delayed pics of the welded motor mounts, and some stuff I purchased. Hopefully I can continue the work on the car in a weeks time or so.

I adjusted the subframe to give a small bulge in the oil pan just that little bit more space.

The goodies: US indicator lights, some high beams switches and a NOS 262 6 cil. rev counter I won on ebay for 20,- euro. Hopefully I can make it work with the m50.

A welding job I'm doing finally justified me investing in a chop saw. Cuts through metal like a... indeed!

Long time no update. Busy with work and busy with being busy. I managed to get the transmission support done. It's a Volvo/BMW hybrid. The transmission is a ZF which was originally mated with an m50b25tu and to a 3.23:1 diff. My 3.31 rear axle should be fine with this box.

Had a rotissery laying around for years from a 3.0CSi project that I sold years ago. I was going to sell the rotissery a few months ago but now I'm glad I did not.
Made some adapters and got the car in the air. So much easier now to do all the welding that the floor, pillars and sills need.

I started with getting the muck and tectyl off using old petrol and a scraper. Tedious and laborious, but it needs to be done if I don't wish to cut corners. Which I don't wish.

Chow for now!

Looking good, this thing getting painted the yellow/beige again. Such a nice color for the early 240's, I'm not sure which front end set up I like better. I like the GT front end and the stock one that was on it in your first few post, both are sweet front ends.

Thanks Cojones, but alas I'm nowhere near the end of this demotivating job.

I also bought some wheels from a big man named Lex. Compomotives bored to the Volvo hub size. They're 16" and around 7.5J, fitted with some 205/55/16 tyres. For the rear end I will probably get some wider tyres like 215 or 225.

I know what you mean. I like the GT spoiler and high beams, but not the silvergrey grille colour. So my idea is to paint the GT grille flat black. Should look nice on the custard yellow.

Subscribed. Also, where are the updates?!

Updates are not there for the moment. I've been working my donkey off last 4-5 months, giving me very little spare time save for the occasional evening or weekend day. And when I'm at my work place I'm busy with the reorganisation of it. I've bought a 4 column car lift, an overhead door and I'm making another mezzanine for storage. So no time really for the car.

Besides, I accidentally bought another 245. This time an import from the UK, so a RHD. It's an automatic from 1978 with very little rust on the bottom, but it has some around the windscreen and it has a dented rear panel from an accident. I'm planning on an b230f engine swap and make it a LHD. This I want to have done before I continu on the Dubbelvla.

Without pictures this post means nothing of course:

Needs some fine BMW wheels to match that fine BMW engine!

Those are either 4x100 or 5x120. That would mean I need expensive adapters... Or is there another way?

The Compomotives I got really fill out the wheel arches nicely and I quite like them. I got them for a good deal imho. However, there is a lot of choice of 5x120 rims...
