Stock 1998 S70 n/a engine, stock cams. The only thing I've done inside of it is valve seals.
So thats the N motor, with hydro lifters and no VVT, right?

VVT no, hydro lifters yes. I don't know that they made a non-vvt engine with solid lifters? For my purposes the lifters are a-ok, these are whisper quiet too. I really don't know why on that last point. It should be more or less the same as what's in your race car.
That motor blew up, the RN motor we put in to replace it has been less than impressive.
That really is a snug fit! I'm all about quiet these days, call me old, but I'm going to go crazy on sound deadening on mine. All I wan't to hear is that sweet sweet sound of intake noise from the four throttles
maybe it just looks good in the pics but that blue car looked like a clean one! Great parts car, shame it caught a tree.
What year RN motor? Are you controlling the VVT or is the solenoid blocked off?
Not controlling it, just left unplugged... I had been assured by Ben Mcnally that its fine that way. car doesn't feel fine.
It's not. The intake cam will be fully retarded at all times if accelerating if it's an S motor. The only thing that controls the phaser position is oil pressure...
