So I'm going to be overhauling my cooling system soon but I've noticed some peculiar things about it. First the coolant recovery tank cap isn't the 22psi that's standard for the 740s but is the 11psi that came on 240 models. I work at a major parts store so when I was trying to search for the cap in the system it only pulled the 22psi but with 240 model it pulled up the one I have now. So I was wondering if this would have an affect on the thermostat opening temperature, I really want to say it's going to be 89F but I'm also not 100% sure and was wondering if there was a way to figure it out without having to take it out so I can get the part in advance.
And for flushing the system, the Volvo repair manual I have suggests putting water through the system in a reverse flow which sounds pretty good to me, I've always used the flushing agents on other cars but the Volvo manual said not to unless you absolutely had to, what would y'all recommend?
I also am pretty sure that I have a coolant leak on one of my metal cooler lines next to the airbox but I suspect my resivoir cap is also leaking, I haven't pressure tested it yet but I can see green almost like corrosion where two fittings meet. I've never dealt with leaking metal lines before only rubber hoses so it's a little daunting to think about replacing if needed @-@ so if anyone has tips or anything it'd be greatly appreciated
Oh and has anyone tried that redline water wetter? I hear good things about it but I'm also apprehansive to putting additives in my Volvo, but I feel like it'd be good if it does work seeing as how I live in SoCal and it never gets below 45F here lol
