Default Aftermarket Overdrive Solenoid

Anybody ever gotten an overdrive solenoid for the auto trans and it only has one hole? This one I got has the hole in the center smaller o-ring, but not the bigger hole inside of the big o-ring. I don't think this thing will work. The damn ebay listing photo shows it with 2 holes as normal, the thing looks like it will fit, but I don't even really see what it would do.

Bummer drag, dude...it won't work then. You'll never see OD with just one hole. Return it quick and get your money back and then go to Amazon or ipd...

Exchange for another. Use the power of complaint.

It's weird, like it just has to be a defect, otherwise it's a pointless apparatus.

If you're looking for cheap/free, just bypass the solenoid. The only thing you lose is the ability to lock out OD.

^ this, I just took a drill and made a little path to let the oil flow between the holes

I'm in the same boat with needing the OD switch. Take your chances exchanging it for another one, or get your money back and go to another vendor.

That's the plan... I'll def leave a review on this thing if it is not resolved. I'm pissed that it is going to take this long, although it isn't the biggest deal in the world! I'll let you guys know how it turned out. Look at this stupid ****!

Until you put the picture in the thread I figured it was just another application list error.

Crazy indeed! If they're not trying to dump mfg. mistakes, I'm baffled.

Whats the name of the vendor/mfg? That way we can all know the name and stay away.

Then again, it could be a small-quantity defect, and they'll make it right, with apologies.

That is what I'm hoping for, I feel like I might could just drill it and make it work but I don't really want to do that. The actual solenoid works fine, it is just missing a hole! The seller is bavarianmotorpart on ebay. There is also another listing that is almost the same from a different seller, and they both have the same 4 reviews... hmmm fishy.

I'm just so glad I didn't get the car tore apart before noticing, or god forbid, actually install this thing!

It's always good to inspect your parts before you install them. It can save for a lot of heartache. Good save. Hope to hear you get it back to normal soon!

That *has* to be a mistake. Drill bit probably broke in the machine and nobody noticed until after that one got through. It's not like it could even work in a different car, there's no way that solenoid can do anything.

They just told me I would "have to send the item back first", before they would send out another one. I'm going to do everything I can to pull the plug on the paypal funds.

If the photo you took isn't enough for them, make sure they understand you've already published it and the name behind it; they'd probably enjoy better sales with a positive review.

I let them know, I have a feeling they are just going to ignore me. In which case I'll go ahead and order another part and try to get ebay to step in for the refund.

It's an MTC part. What do you expect?

I have to believe this is a rare thing though, seems like there would be some word about it on the internet somewhere since they have sold like 259 of them.

It's probably just a fluke, but it goes to show that their quality control sucks.
