Gidday,

I'm looking to restore a pair of RHD e-code style 240 headlights that I pulled out of my wagon to put some fresher UK-via-US imports in and get them into my sedan to replace the buggered ones in there. Looking at the reflector kit here, times 2, for now, 2 more later if good. Will have shipped to Spain and my wife will bring them back, if it's a good idea. https://www.skruvat.com/Reflector-headlight-P11212.aspx

The other thing I want to know if anyone has tried/used is the 940 corner lights, e-code again, not US style. Any good? I have 2 UV crazed ones on my 740 sedan, and one rough right one on my 940 wagon, and one broken ruined left one on my 940 wagon. So aiming to get 2 of each of these and shelve the old ones as spares. Again, only if good. Look okay in the bad photos. https://www.skruvat.com/Indicator-P12926.aspx & https://www.skruvat.com/Indicator-P13026.aspx

Also would like to treat the 240 wagon to new rears and keep the old ones for spares:

Either https://www.skruvat.com/Combination-Rearlight-P12055.aspx and https://www.skruvat.com/Combination-Rearlight-P10779.aspx
Or https://www.skruvat.com/Combination-Rearlight-P11644.aspx and https://www.skruvat.com/Combination-Rearlight-P10325.aspx

And some mirror inserts, if I can figure out which ones I need: http://forums.turbobricks.com/showthread.php?t=333596

Can I do better (price/quality) than these? Alternatives? Help!

I remember a different site that I can't find anymore that had what claimed to be genuine Volvo reflectors, clips, adjusters, etc, individually, rather than a kit. Any tips?

Need to get this stuff ordered soon so it arrives in Madrid in time.

Thanks in advance!

Fred.

I think the other site you are thinking of may be cvi.se? You can also buy directly from gcp.se. I've never checked out the site you were browsing. The repops from Estonia have been ok. Those are the ones we get here that places like swedish car parts sells.

The URL for CVI is https://www.cvi-automotive.se (I typed in what you said and got 403 forbidden, geo fencing or something) and they do have the clips etc, but not the reflector. Or so it seems.

Similarly, GCP *requires* a www. prefix to work - these are clearly small operations without decent dev shops, probably a good sign, if anything :-D Looking around it, could not find anything much, really hard to navigate/search (one in topic isn't great, either).

What other sites are there, if any? Thanks for your reply! Much appreciated.

EDIT: Is "repop" remanufactured/restored or something like that? I guess so, just checking.

No need to apologise, I was just making it easier for those who come here later. :-)

Hmmm, Skandix may have been what I was looking at, seems familiar. But again, doesn't have what I want/need, or I can't find it.

Thanks again. If anyone else has any further suggestions on these parts, feel free to drop them in here.

Will update again once ordered, and when in hand, and finally when installed :-)

Well, skruvat order went out about a year ago, were in hand since last December, in this country since January this year, and:

* 7/9 corner lights installed on both cars January this year, still looking sharp, no issues, look good:

* 7/9 wagon clear/red tail lights installed a weekend or two ago, found 24v bulb in one side! That explains dim. Small garden growing inside old lights on one side. Amber bulbs purchased and installed by force, tabs slightly offset, dodgy but good enough. Any idea on holders that have the correct offset slots? :

* 240 wagon rear lights not yet installed, still on the shelf a year later, such is my life, old ones still okay, just UV crazed, will look sharper with them on. These seemed a touch nicer than the 940 clear/red ones.

Worth noting that before I placed my order they partially blocked all non-Sweden sales, I used browser tricks to bypass it and get them sent to Spain on a gamble as they said "all final orders will be sent out". Worked out, but likely skruvat is not an option any more unless policy changed or you have someone in Sweden or Norway (IIRC).

Will post once more once the 240 wagon gets upgraded. Perhaps this weekend or soon as it needs some love before safety inspection/WOF.

Yeah, I think so. Only time will tell with the UV light levels here, though :-) All of them look a little odd on my crusty old cars, kinda out of place, but also all raise the general appearance of the crusty old cars that they're on. I'm just too used to seeing faded milky crazed broken lights on all of my Volvos :-D I should put a tail light pic of the 240 sedan up so you can see how crappy those are right now.

With the above 240 wagon rear ones I had to pull the gasket off *one* of the retainer posts to make it go in a straight line from the outside, just cosmetic detail, but with it installed on the thing as per design an factory it dipped inward there and looked odd. Once compressed up you'd hardly see that, but it annoyed me. Just a little OCD :-)

Next up, find a source of quality 240 sedan rear 6 panels and get them imported and onto my 16v swapped 88 sedan :-) haven't thought about standard colour vs other variants, but I guess I'll cross link any posts about that adventure here for completeness :-)

Okay, went out especially, here's the ugly old buggers, complete with fibreglass repair by the PO and sanding/polishing/waxing by me (which helped, they were worse):

If you want higher res of those, replace 900 with 4096 and you're in business.
