Default Where do I measure the height of the head?

Having my 160 head decked tomorrow yet again, where do I measure to see how much is left?

If you don't know how much it has been shaved before, you measure from the valve cover surface to the head surface.

The machinist measured it at 5.695 the greenbook says new they are 5.7563 and the minimum height at 5.7366. So it's had .061 cut off, should I spring for a thicker cometic to reduce the compression, the block has been decked too so I lost some height there as well. I'm using stock M rods , RSI 8.5-1 pistons. I guess I need to figure out the compression ratio I have now. Or should I just remove some material from the head near the intake valve?

CC the chamber and know what you have. Opening up the chamber near the valves removes a lot of material.

49cc so 9.26-1 according to the calculator I used. My goals are to be able to handle 20-24 psi, does this c/r preclude this level of boost? I'm using an IPD turbo cam
