Default Making the Brick Faster

I ran my 1990 Volvo 240 last night. It went 13.8@97 with a 2.0 60ft.

Here is my setup

Aem 340Lph pump
80lb injectors
3" mass
LH2.4 chipped
EZK chipped
E85
25psi boost
8 to 1 compression
Minimal head work. Radius exhaust valves, 3 angle valve grind.
Ipd Turbo cam
3300 stall converter with Aw72L trans
3.73 rear
Slicks
Adjustable FPR
TD04HL-20T turbo with angled 3" hot side.
3" exhaust system with muffler and catco non racing 3" cat.
Adjustable cam gear set at 0.
Ebay front mount intercooler.

Is there anything I can do to make this car much quicker? What would you guys recommend me looking at next?

Probably around 700-800 dollars next season if I sell my 20T and 15G first.

I'm in the middle of porting my intake manifold and throttle body. I'm going to Port the exhaust manifold and turbo exhaust housing next weekend. Probably bump turbo up up a couple of psi. Low 13 or high 12 is my goal. I was hoping to get that with the 20T.

how does lh2.4 deal with the e85? Does it know to automatically bump the fueling by 40 odd percent? Personally I would be looking at an ms system so I could be a bit more intimate with the tuning process than lh.

It runs just as it did on Pump gas. It holds 11.5 to 1 mostly to redline where it starts going a bit more rich. I got 80lb injectors, 012 Mass, fuel pressure set at 43 with my adj fpr running 25 psi. The tune ended up being fine with the stock 937 fuel map. More fuel had to be added during cold start though. It works fine for me though I'm not pushing crazy horsepower either.

To answer your question yes it can compensate for air fuel still. I thought the number was 30 percent +-.

You want to go faster with your current setup?

Drop that 2.0 60' to 1.7-1.8, and you'll make a dramatic improvement in your ET. In drag racing, fast isn't always about power.

when you're mph'ing around 97, it's about power too.

wait, at 25psi you only trapped 97? your setup has some issues. do a boost leak test on everything. I'm pretty sure you're missing an assload of power somewhere

I'll find my boost tester somewhere. The throttle gasket crumbled to pieces when I took it apart and I couldn't get the car to idle under 1400 rpm warmed up before I took the throttle body off for porting. I'll check for leaks once I put it back together. What should the car be trapping? The head was bowl blended and is 8:1 compression on the .024 oversized turbo pistons.

I've ran 1.8s before, I couldn't get the brakes to hold the boost so my buddy who drag races suggested changing my old brake fluid.

Typical..barely a whisper of what gearbox ratios and final drive the car has...or any thoughts on optimising that..

Acc is about torque to the wheels.
Motor makes T torque, and it gets multiplied by first the gearbox then the final drive..

And everybody steadfastly ignores its rle in making for a quicker car.

Amazing.

I'm not sure what to even do about that John other than going to manual or change out the rear end. I got an Aw72L 3300 stall and 3.73 rear.

I personally would swap to megasquirt if I was you. At the very least, I'd figure out some launch control scheme. That'll lower your 60 ft and make you way faster.

But I also agree with Kenny. Trapping at 97 mph makes me think you have a boost leak.

Yeah, should be doing better mph than 97..
