Ignition/ECU/tach problem?

I have an '89 B230F (N/A) which has a couple of problems
1. On occasion there is a fairly noticeable flat spot while accelerating and the engine comes close to dying when I stop (manual trans). It doesn't seem to have its usual power and while all this is happening the tachometer doesn't work, it just sticks somewhere. I'm thinking that it is ignition related (EZK 116). The flat spot feels as though the ignition advance isn't working properly.

2. On cold start up it runs rough and REALLY rich for the first 30 seconds or so. Then it eases into a "normal" running engine. I've researched this problem and most answers are "don't worry about it" But, I worry.

Anyone have a similar problem?
Anyone have any suggestions/cures?

disconnect the tach and drive it..rules out a flaky tach...
"lektrikal woes" often include DROPPING tach...I'd look for fuel
issues as well...
get a DVOM in there and measure PULSE WIDTH on the injectors
(the cold start issue)
as always when dealing w/Volvo management problems - CLEAN AND TIGHT
connections (GROUNDS TOO) are called for....
