Not funny enough to lol at. Some sort of aftermarket 5-spokes from the 80s.

Nice blue wagon was parked next to the fridge at Ikea today- anyone on here? I feel like I've seen this car before.

I had those Tethys for a hot minute... Sold them to him a while ago, he was the guy selling the 17" voxx locally...

Ps. Aj, there is a 744 in mt pleasant with "funny" wheels that I was thinking of... They kinda look like these vw wheels: but with a flat face and machined finish. I'll try and snap a pic tomorrow

Someone got a new 242?

If that is the '82 242GLT it looks to be, it might just be the best Volvo ever made. Good score.

Also, spotted this one at work:

Not very fast, but makes a good amount of power.

You should see the size of the turbo on it.

Was that yours too once? It was Theo's, and previously it belonged to some Caucasian fellow out in Abbotsford or something.

Yeah, I was tempted by it myself. We have one too many already. Anyone need a basket case '75 245? It's orange.

I think I met that car last year (or was it longer ago?) at the pick-a-part run when it was driven by a fellow from Surrey.

If it was Gab's, then he brought it by our place to pick up one of the teenagers once long ago. He had his open downpipe and overly cut springs made fun of, if I recall correctly. Glad to see it didn't go to the crusher.

Ugh, I would've loved to pick that 245 up. I hope it doesn't get parted out, but if it does, I'll take a few things...

Yes, same one as the one that went on the Pick-a-Part run. Pretty sure it isn't Gab's? His was a darker grey turbo, I believe.

Well I know someone who would take the 242 off your hands if you really wanted the orange

345k, M46 with working overdrive, some rust (buttcheek rust fixed by Theo...kinda). Needs new head gasket, but other than that, it runs pretty well and handles nicely with all the iPd stuff already in there. Will be taking it off the road in March to work on it, then I might make it a daily. GT grille and 7" rounds on their way already, but do need a flathood.

Project thread will be up in the next week or so. It's really growing on me.

Yup, I know. He's #1 on the list if it ever needs to be sold.

I'd really like to save it from the crusher, but...

The brakes are leaking again. I replaced the calipers, octopus,
master cylinder, the rubber lines, and the front hard lines when
we got the car. The '75s got steel lines, rather than the
copper-nickel alloy Volvo switched to in '76, and they rust out.

The B20F is pretty tired, but runs okay. It takes a particular
vacuum leak to get it through air care.

The BW35 is broken, no reverse and the rest of the gears will go
soon. No big loss, that transmission is hateful, but the car is
not worth anything really without the ability to back it out of a
parking spot.

It has a couple of big dents in the passenger front fender.
Teenage daughter hit a pole while parking in a hurry, and then
managed to hit it again.

The paint is kind of crappy, but it is orange.

The interior is actually pretty good.

It's gotta go this month, we've been insuring it and it is a
stupid thing to spend $90 a month on.

If I have to part it, the hood will be up for grabs. I'll use
some of the sheet metal to repair rust on our GLT and my wagon.

I would love to see it go to a good home, it would make a sweet
project shell. I have a B21FT+M46 that I could potentially be
talked out of also.

[I know this is not the for sale section, but I thought it might
interest a local]

He had a silver '82 242GLT a few years ago, that he got rid of
when he got the 4runner. Sold it to someone in Surrey IIRC. It
could be the same car, how many '82 GLTs could be around these
days?

Sim, we'll be in touch.

And who knows, that might be Gab's old 242 afterall then. Theo picked it up from an ad at Scandia Motors about two years ago. I didn't recognize the name of the owner before him though.

Vancity Volvos: An endless, closed loop of buying and reselling old cars and old parts until they finally rust away.
