Okay so where to start, well first off I want to go sideways and I knew what car I wanted to use for it; a 242. I had had an 84 240 about four years ago and it was always one of my favorite cars. I had originally planned to use my Supra as my drift car but since I got it from my cousin and it's what I call "too pretty" to thrash around haha and honestly my Supra is very fun to drive and handles like it's on rails now after freashening up the suspension but it felt heavy and lumbaring compared to my old 240.. my old 240 felt lighter in the rear end and easier to flick around.. and I think I always kinda wanted a 240 drift car, and I always wanted a coupe too..
I ended up grinding and saving up enough monies for my goal budget then my search began!! I looked on Craigslist every day checking local and surrounding areas, and even searched car sales sites and google too.. it was feeling sort of hopeless I mean I was putting in a tall order: manual AND coupe.. it was feeling hopeless because the local and surrounding craigslists were dry for the longest time so I started expanding to up north, and then I found my car!! It's a 1978 242 GT and it's perfect for what I'm using it for. I ended up going all the way up north to get it and brought it back down to its new home..
So tonight I went out to a local meet and as the night got later some joining was going down, and of course I want to rip a few donuts myself! After I finished ripping it all my dash lightscame on and my motor wasn't happy anymore, AW **** e_e I park and pop the hood to find that the crank bolt had come loose and the balancer started to come off and the timing belt slid off the crank gear, sweet! It's just the belt+balancer I guess you can clutch kick the crank bolt loose if it isn't tight enough?? you learn something new everyday.
Anyhow I'm taking this as a sign to start building it how I've been thinking.. I want to turbocharge it, I have a whole parts car to use turbo and all and the only thing that was stopping me was that it was working so good I didn't want to take it apart, buuuut now I have no choice I really want to keep it K-jet because I really like the system and it has a lot of potential I feel,, I wanted to take this time to take apart the rear end too I wanted to put a 4.88 ring and pinion in it and weld the spider gears, also going to put power steering back in it, even tho manual steering isn't terrible..
I'll take pictures tomorrow it's 4AM rn and I should be sleeping yikes
