Inspiration -- 240 Style (DONT POST YOUR OWN)

The reason why two turbos typically spool faster than one is that the wheels of two smaller turbos have a lower combined moment of inertia than a single large set of wheels. Moment of inertia for a round disk is (m*r^2)/2. So even small changes in radius have a significant effect. Similarly, larger wheels are not only larger in diameter (remember, volume also has radius squared), but longer as well. They also require "more beef" to support the larger forces on them, so they usually weigh more than two smaller wheels.

The first ~12mm of diameter is wasted though, contributes nothing to mass flow, or shaft power. And you have more bearing drag with 2 shafts. To what degree these issues influence performance will vary with the design of the specific turbo.
Also a lot more heat loss through 2 open housings vs. a single divided one.

IMO it's pretty much a wash if compared to a twin scroll set up with dual wastegates...

Since you know which 240s were sprayed with Maaco jobs why not name the members? I only know of two members on TB that had their cars done at Maaco and they look real nice.

Who do you know?

Adrianpike's red wagon was. It's about 10 years old and looks like a 10 year old Maaco job.
