Default T6 2.0L Super/Turbo Engine

Afternoon,

I'm looking for a I4 with decent power for a rock-crawler. I've been trying to find out some info on the newer 2.0 T6 with the dual charging systems but can't find anything but general power specs. Looking for general dimensions, what kind of transmission can be hooked to it, or any other information I can find. Been browsing the aftermarket section of this forms and it looks like computer management can be handled by any of the main systems.

Apologize if this is the wrong area or forum but first place I've found that deals with Volvo's.

Thats a very new engine, almost everything you will want to do will have to be custom designed / machined. If you want something thats easy and has support go use an ecoboost.

Why not use a modified redblock? You can get it to 3.1L if you want to depending on your wallet.

First time I've heard of a redblock, will have to look into it. I'm not real familiar with the Volvo lineup, just turned on to them by some guys in Finland that where using a T5. Vtec and Ecotech are similar concepts but the packing isn't the greatest for us, weird intakes, steering pumps not in normal positions, etc.

Custom fab isn't an issue.

Welcome to Redblock heaven. We all have them, or have had them.

It will be at least 10 years until those twin-charge 2.0 engines hit this forum in the manner you're talking about. Some people might buy a newer car with one in it, but swapping them into something else? Long way off.

Where would you even find one, affordably?

Indeed, the value on those is high enough that you're not likely to see a new XC90 hit the junkyard with the motor intact.

That said, take a look at the engine:

It looks like the accessories and the timing are all on the "front" of it, unlike the SI6 engines, so maybe physically easier to mount longitudinally. I can't imagine trying to map this engine with an aftermarket ECU though, I bet trying to get adapt the stock one would be nearly as difficult.

Anything is possible for a price? I hope the OP has unlimited resources and a hell of a shop.

Found a couple on Ebay I think for around 3K. But yes it seems they are far and few between, junkyard is usually where I would look.

The shop builds all kinds of interesting stuff. And maybe it's not feasible at this time either.

Shoving these axles (unimog portals):

Into these:
