Well I guess it's time to post some pics of the new project. Alex and I decided to activate our wonder twin powers on a joint build, which is one of the reasons why I scrapped my 242 a few months ago.
It's a rust free 82 242 shell. Alex bought it a few years ago in South Central LA from a Mexican bro (that would be with the socal definition of the word). He did some work on it here and there but progress was, on the whole, pretty slow. After my car was gone we went on a tear. Here's a quick run down on the last couple of months:
Hung the engine, straight up and down. We moved it back slightly:
Made some room in the passenger compartment:
Firewall moved 6" straight back:
New tranny tunnel:
Sheet metal intake. Velocity stacks not pictured:
Tacked a collector. 8" long on an HY35:
Minitubs with new shock towers:
Deleted buttcheeks:
4-link:
Ride height (wheels are 18x8 2-piece BBS):
Full bump:
Rear coilovers, 8.5" of travel:
We've already got a bunch of **** hoarded like carbon/kevlar racing seats, R brakes, my old VEMS, and 800cc injectors. There's a lot to be done, but it's getting there. We'll probably post up a project thread in a week or two.
