Default Suspension Setup: Not Coils

Hey all,

Looking to lower the Brick, but in TB fashion, not looking to break the bank on a crazy set of Coils anymore.

Moving towards a new Spring set, front struts, and rear shocks.

I have a couple options for each, just curious which are objectively better.

IPD sport lowering springs
Sachs Turbo Gas front struts / Bilstein HD front struts / Koni Sport Front strut
Bilstein HD Rear Shocks / Koni Sport Rear Shocks

I know the springs will lower it about 1.5-2 inches in the front, and a little less in the back.

Also going to be replacing sways with IPD 25/25 set, and replacing the Panhard bar since it's not looking so hot. Sway links, Torque rods, tie rods, and ball joints will all be replaced as well. (Brick's ODO stopped at 253,000... 2 owners ago)

I searched around and couldn't really find a straight answer, and didn't see anything on the stickies about it.

Any and all help is appreciated!

Thanks,

Lost

What platform are you working on?

In my fleet:
745T, 25/25mm, TME springs, Koni yellows, love the way it handles.
144, 25/22mm, Lesjofors springs, Bil HD's, handles decent, a little harsh, need a better valving choice for the springs.
850R (sold), stock 23 front/24mm rear, H&R's, Koni yellows, handled like it was on rails.

Also when you get to bushings, shoot me a pm. I've got a Superpro account, got access to anything you want.

I ended up with IPD springs and Koni Yellows after going through a similar search / discussion. Here's the thread:

I have yet to install these but will be doing so soon and will be posting impressions. My understanding is that it is a good setup if you prefer a firm ride.

Some seem to prefer the billys. Hopefully some of the posts in the linked thread will be helpful.

'90 240 Wagon! Also going to be +T soon, so I might steal your setup

With the SuperPro... Holy Cow! Definitely! I'll be in touch when I order, for sure.

Thanks!

Awesome, thanks for the link! That helps a lot.

EDIT:

I ended up looking at Kalphenke's site... For only about $100-$200 more than these setups, I could get their coils WITH the shortened struts.. What do y'all think, would it be worth it? Considering then I'd also be able to eventually get the special top hats they have to correct camber and caster.. hmmm
