740 m46 Overdrive problems

Just purchase a 1990 740 m46 overdrive car. Car runs great however above 45 clutch engaged push the button but no 5th gear engagement or indication on dash. Going to check the end of my wires to see if I have continuity of Overdrive button. ANY other quick pointers I appreciate all the help. Thank you for your time

Clean the ground lead to the transmission and connectors on the overdrive solenoid/wiring harness going to the transmission. After that check the fluid level in the transmission. If still no bueno, inspect the OD relay located underneath the radio.
