A-Engine (carb.) Choke Cable

Is there anyone out there with a 240 A-engine (carb.) that can tell me if this choke cable is suppose to mount into the dash from the front or from behind. I installing the whole assembly not just the cable.

Well in looking at the diagram and thinking of a 240 dash. I guess that it would mount from the side of the dash inside the car. Of course I've never had a 240 with a carb so maybe one of the members who does will reply.
