Default Tow for Life

Volvo announced a complimentary roadside assistance program for all Volvos today, past, present and future. Seems handy.

I'd like to see the exclusions in that program.

Quote:
Vehicle tows that are initiated through these channels will have their tow to a local Volvo retailer covered under the program.
"Sorry, there is no Volvo retailer "covered" under this program that is "local" to your bumfxck breakdown location."

It would have been a good time to pitch their genuine classic parts for the older discontinued models. Oh well.

Here's an exclusion.

Quote:
Tow for Life
We’ve got you covered. Even after your warranty has expired, your vehicle is still eligible for Tow for Life. With no cost, we will arrange to have your car towed to the nearest authorized Volvo retailer within a 25-mile radius.

I'm sure this "free" tow will be more than compensated with the receiving dealership fixes whatever ailed it.

"Just a bad fuse.......that will be $400."

It's a very rare trait among TB members called skepticism.

25 miles? sheesh.... Just insure with Hagerty if it's not your daily. Free towing there too. Except they'll take it back to your house. Not the stealership.

Upgrade to their platinum or gold service (can't remember what rare metal they use) and you get 120 miles towing for all of your vehicles.

I think it's a distinctively business angle called "marketing".

Like a mail-in rebate. Looks good on paper, most people won't do it, they keep their money.

If you don't like it, don't use it.

Can I buy a subscription for the new parts Volvo installs on my car? Us millennials don't like owning stuff.

*Deep bow* You're welcome!!

Sorry. All day I'm surrounded by people who complain constantly about almost everything (I work at a dealer). I visit TB for a little enjoyment and it's a bummer when it's more of the same.

Compounded by my sarcasm, I also have a deeply justified lack of faith in just about any new marketing "trend" Volvo decides to try these days. Volvo has a habit of "remaking" themselves into something different every few years, kinda like a flag in the wind, only slower. So please let me be the first to predict this program will vaporize after a few years.

It doesn't seem to be very revolutionary... doesn't Mercedes offer the same thing already?

The marketing is on point though. Relatives have sent me the tow for life article because the saw it in the news. So if Volvo's goal is to get the average person more reasons to buy a volvo, its working. Hell, if the tow limit wasn't 25 miles, I'd be happier and more confident about driving my wagon around where wagons don't belong...
