Just joined the forums today--I am in Colombia, South America.

My car is a 1982 Volvo 244 GL carbureted. I will attach some photos of the engine and carburetor.
The VIN is: yv1244812c1779435
The motor number is: 49897003545
I believe the motor is the B23A 2.3L 4cyl carburated w/ clutch fan. Manual 4 speed w/ overdrive...
The carb is a Stromberg (seen in this video: https://youtu.be/kbBB0ZHZgYc)
The motor/carb in this car looks like:

Because I cannot select my car for 'my garage' on most website's product filters like FCP or IPD, I am wary of 100pct everything I ordered will work for the car even though it is a Redblock. I have to get it right because I will not have a chance to order again for a couple of months. The links are for a genuine: head gasket kit, water pump kit, flame trap kit, oil separator box, and clutch cable. If anybody can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Whats wrong with your old head bolts? Unless they're stretched they can be reused up to 5 times.

Original head bolts are great, some people said to change them out if doing a head gasket. Guessing they thought I blew a head gasket and stretched the bolts. BTW, thanks for the guide screenshot. What pdf guide is it from and where can I get it. I need all/any pdf guides for the B23A and 1982 244 body...

Basically you will want to do a full service. Something like the 60k miles service on the car. Then you will have all service and maintenance on your schedule. All fluids and filters including trans oil, diff oil, repacking front wheel bearings, bleeding the brakes. Be sure to use DOT4 brake fluid in the system.

If it is still points ignition. You can get a pertronix system to elminate the points. Will give you better starting and smoother running. Hiperfauto gets stuff like that.

All of the original Volvo Green Books were once available on the www but Volvo's new owners went on a campaign to have them all taken down.

A guy in Oz has collected just about everything available onto a private server.

https://ozvolvo.org/archive/

It is not in some logical order but you can figure out what the files are . . . sorta.

About a third of the way down the file list you will start to see 240 Green Books. Find what you are looking for and create your own library.

Here is the wiring diagram for the 1981 cars as a start. Don't know if I have ever seen a 1982 specific wiring diagram but it didn't change much if any.

I have all the '82 Green Books but the .pdf files are so big they cannot be sent via email. If someone would like to supply a cloud to post them I would be happy to upload them.

thank you 100pct, guessing this is Geely's fault. Going to create my own custom library

Ellijay like in Georgia?

I think there is one in NC also but yes, Georgia.

Ellijay is reported to be a Native American Cherokee word meaning a 'place of green things' or sometimes 'many waters'. Two rivers come together here to ultimately form the Coosa River.

Any idea where to get correct sparkplug wiring and an engine harness for this particular car?

All of DaveBarton's harnesses are SUPER expensive. My car is an 82GL B23A but dead simple..manual windows/mirrors etc.

75 eur for engine harness here?

15 eur for firewall switcheroo here:

All of these links come from here:

Why are Dave's kits 300+ easily? Is he using the harnesses from this other place and marking them up? Thanks.

Also: are these sparkplug wires any good? Need something that will be compatible with B23A carbureted

I don't see a harness for a 240 with carbs on Dave's site. There's not much demand for them in North America. The F/I harnesses have a lot more wires and connectors which is why they cost more.

His harnesses are made in the Netherlands so that probably is the place that's making them for him.

I may have a NOS harness for a 240 with carbs.

Yes, Bougicord sparkplug wires are good.

:uh:

The engine harnesses were $650 from Volvo back in the 80s when money was worth double.

Then people threatened a class action lawsuit and Volvo offered them at $450 as a concession to avoid litigation.

Count your blessings that you can get anything new for a 25+ year old car.

Interested, what would be helpful from me to determine if it is the right harness...car coming out of paint today, I can snap a photo of a number on the harness if needed. I thought I could not find a B23A harness on his website!
