Nonsense. I've driven LHD in Pommieland and RHD cars bought in Pommieland on the Continent.
On Freeways/motorways/Autoroute/Autobahn, no problems.
On narrow lanes in Pay Gaul or up Norf it was stupid.
Until September 1967 the Swedes in their infinate wisdom built and drove LHD cars but drove on the 'wrong side'...then they switched to what other countries without their heads up the bums did. Despite people being suddenly driving on the other side in their first year their accident rate and fatality rate both plummeted.....
It is inarguably a hinder to vision on 2 lane roads, particularly for overtaking.....presuming any curves.
To voluntarily spend time and effort in a misplaced idea that it is "cool" is just short of insanity.
If I was in the position I would pull the driver's licence from anybody who even thought of it as it shows poor judgement in the extreme...If they can't figure that out, then they probably can't figure out safe driving either.
It does make a difference but it is a case of pros and cons. In some situations visability is better and in others it is worse and you need to adjust your driving to suit.
There are times in the UK where you might want to convert from RHD to LHD for clearance with Turbo conversions and there is no problem in doing that. We have a few LHD cars and no problems at all with overtaking on normal roads of Wales.
I do agree that to convert for looks is a daft idea. The only way it might be funny is if you have a dog sat in the passenger seat so it looks to everyone seeing the car that the dog is driving. Would it be worth doing for a laugh no.
Point is it makes no difference and is just a stupid idea unless done to aid a engine conversion. And before considering the swap at least drive a opposite hand drive car first to be sure you can get along with it. Not everyone can.
