Qwkswede's 1992 244 daily driver. Back to my rolling roots.

I now have 5 cars and need a bit of room to work on the Amazon project. I live in a 900 square foot home in the old part of Denver. No driveways, no parking. Everything must fit in my garage or it can't stay.

This 240 is running great. If someone is interested in taking it home make me an offer. It looks like this right now:

Just as an non-Volvo added comment, in case anyone is interested.
I am also selling a 2002 Audi TT Quattro 225. Really fun and quick car with 175k miles. I'll let go of either car for the right offer.

Tracey's Mini Cooper S.
and a "daily driver" corvette that I just had to have because el es Juan.

If they weren't all small cars I'd have a real problem. And the Amazon is spread all over the f@%$ing place at the moment.

Long needed update here. I need to do a few things to the old daily driver Volvo to keep it road worthy. On the list is new motor mounts. I installed a set of diesel mounts about a year ago, and I think they have been collapsed and busted for about 9 months. The motor was hitting the steering rack and making all kinds of noise.

I bought some of these burly things from Yoshifab. I got them installed in a few hours. You have to enlarge some holes in the aluminum brackets because these mounts have the bolt holes straight across from eachother. It's a slightly different configuration than the staggered bolts on the factory mounts.

The mounts are in, and the motor does not move with torque now. They do transmit quite alot of vibration to the body at idle, but itd mostly goes away when moving. Maybe my motor is a bit unbalanced, but I think I'll get used to it. It is nice that the motor isn't bouncing off the frame on every crack in the road.

Way overdue update.

This car is still doing what old Volvo's do best, despite my efforts to make it an unreliable hobby car with a turbo and other silly items. It keeps running and running. I just hit 240,000 miles. It has been turbocharged since 210,000.

I drove it on a 3000 mile road trip in January. It ran great. But showed it's age. 80-85mph highway speeds are the norm in the west these days. Boy has that changed since this car was new. This car is not really comfortable at those speeds for long hours.. Too many rpms, too much wind noise. I drove with ear plugs in and kept the speed to 70-75mph in the right lane. Fuel economy was horrible. With 2 bikes on the roof I was pulling down 17mpg most fillups. But overall it was a great trip. I wouldn't do it any other way.

It is time to get my summer stance configuration again. So for something different I picked up these BMW wheels. I'm not sure I like the way they fit so far, this is going to be harder than I thought...

Adapters are 25mm thick...

Rear looks OK.

Front looks really poked... Did I use that word correctly? #stancenation

I have a few other repairs and modifications coming up in the next month, I'll try to get em logged here. That's about it for now.

Thanks for watching.

Ken, you copycat. For the rear you will need to move the axle forward 3/4" and hammer the wheelwells right beneath the rear window. Fronts should fit fine with a degree of camber or so. I used 20mm spacers with 215/45R17s to make them fit, fwiw.

Looks like you are in the same boat in regard to comfort. Couple friends and I drove to Davis, 80-90 MPH most of the way. Gearing was fine and the car returned somewhere between 24-28mpg on the highway turning around 3000 RPM most of the way.

My biggest complaint was driveline vibration, followed by wind noise, followed by tire roar. Until those things are sorted I will limit my road trip radius on this thing to about 200 miles.
