Turbo "Up-Pipe" idea (will it work?)

Will this work as an up pipe???
I have an Amazon with a B230F mounted at a slant. Runs great and I love it. BUT, Sitting my garage is B230FT which I want to install. I'm looking for an easy way to mount the turbo. There isn't nearly enough space for a turbo next to the wheel well, so I'm thinking an up-pipe.
I ran across this kit from CXRacing and wonder if I could use the pair of adapter flanges V band to V band as an up pipe from my 90+ manifold.

I'm planning on keeping the engine and turbo stock ('91 B230FT w. Mitsu TD 04H).
I realize it will need to be clocked, take extra bracing and having the manifold and turbo machined flat. Probably some massaging of the inner wheel well also.
I'm looking for a fairly inexpensive way to do this, so a custom header is not really an option.
Does this look like a possible solution?

This is the kit they offer:

This is how I'd like to use it:

I wouldn't use vbands if you are gunna run it like that. Maybe if you weld it or brace the crap out of it. I like this idea and I'm sure you can make it work.

Interesting idea, if this is just a basic setup no real power goals I don't see why this wouldn't work perfectly for you. I agree on welding it though

You'll need another adapter or you'll need to have the flanges on the turbo and manifold milled flat. Its not a big deal, just something to be aware of.

Luckily these folks are only about a half an hour away. I'll go see if I can check them out this week.
I already have an adapter for the flange on the manifold. Only need to have the turbo ground flat (and everything else that needs doing).

Is it not possible to have a local exhaust shop weld a similar pipe + flanges for a similar ?140 ... or is that suddenly "custom" and pricey?
I do like the convenience of these pieces, I would be tempted to use the V-band and later weld up if htat isn't sealing right. Nothing lost by trying.

Flip the flange on the stock cast manifold lol? Horrible idea

Yeah which is why I am assuming the OP has not gone that route. If you flip the manifold, you'd have to flip the flange or the holes wouldn't line up with the studs.

If I wanted to flip a manifold I would do it to the OBX turbo manifold I picked up at Davis last year (cheap in all respects). I haven't heard much good about them, so I'm trying something a little different.
I will explore the home made/custom aspect before I spend any money.

Is there any one in Turbobricks land that wants to take on a project?

This approach looks way easier than this:

Can you post pictures of your engine compartment? I'd like to see a slant B230 in an Amazon.

The flange is on ebay

There was a recent posting of a "J" pipe but I don't think there would be enough room. I have 2 stock turbo exhaust down pipes which I will cut and re-assemble as necessary.

Here is a posting I did a while back. Mostly the same except I've installed a stock black interior.
If I actually go ahead with the turbo I'll have to move a bunch of stuff around and likely lose the A/C condenser to an intercooler unless I can mount it underneath.

I did a couple of test fits in another Amazon. Looks like just a simple up pipe could be fabricated.
