![]() Anybody try a j-pipe for mounting a turbo on a 16v n/a exhaust manifold on a 240?
I'm concerned about downpipe clearance between firewall and manifold. And clearence between the manifold and crossmember for the turn in the j-pipe itself. Is this concidered "too" hokey.

![]() hokey is as hokey does
![]() ![]() clearance is tight, but it works. Doing it over again, I'd, do it the way Sam did and put the turbo farther forward at the same time. (ie. so you can use a larger turbo) http://forums.turbobricks.com/showth...er4life&page=5 ![]() |

![]() I also think going from 4-2- turbo is better than the 4-1 pipe. Can imagine it affects the pulses etc. A lot of people on savar run a J/U pipe. They use 4-2- turbo setups.
I've also used a 4-2- turbo configuration. Haven't tried it yet, will do within the next few weeks.

![]() Ok cool, I'll try it then. Atleast until I make can make a nice manifold.

![]() I knew I kept that n/a manifold for a reason, I might just try this as well

![]() What's the reasoning behind this? To get a tight fitment in a 240?

![]() that one is going on sam's 245 whenever he gets off his dead ass and starts putting it back together (or... maybe that's whenever rsi gets off their dead asses and lets him buy a cam)

![]() I'm taking notes on this... How well do those manifolds flow? I know the 8V NA manifolds flow quite well.

![]() What good is it to make it divided? The stock manifold won't be divided at the collector. Right?

"Why No, 2slow4u, we decided that since the OEM collector off the OEM header is not divided, we'd go ahead and use TWO PIPES TO LOOK COOL MAN" Mike even posted the link to the thread discussing that particular setup, but I guess your time is too valuable so you'd rather waste someone elses? |

and it wasn't a question that read "is the manifold divided at the outlet?" it was a "why the **** did you use two pipes, the manifold isn't divided at the outlet; right?!" Go back and read your statement again. This to me, means that you are suggesting an implicit lack of foresight on the part of the planning committee. And since I was on that planning committee; and further, since I haven't seen much productive from your planning committee, you got a smart ass reply to your smart ass question. had you asked "is the stock manifold divided at the outlet?" you would have gotten a more comically smart assed reply of "of course it is, why the **** else would we have done it that way". Since this is apparently NOT common knowledge, because lord knows, there aren't millions of non turbo volvos floating around, I can see how this might be something of an enigma to the untrained eye. So to put all to rest who wait with bated breath... Yes. The stock NA exhaust manifolds are divided. 1+4 are paired, and 2+3 are paired. the NA "down pipe" continues this until the exhaust has turned towards the back, at which point there is a merge collector going in to the cat pipe. |

And no. Nothing that exciting out of me. And I don't claim to be. I try my hardest to ask questions in performance. Off topic I don't give a ****. But here I ask questions and keep my mouth shut(as often as I can). Carry on guys. ![]() |

![]() It's functionally identical to a twinscroll up-pipe on a subaru, if that helps. Just the 2 cylinder pairs are on the same side of the motor and happen to be part of the same casting.
