Default Are these really genuine Bosch injectors?

$150 seems cheap for 4?

Not the right length for redblock. These are with the plugs you'd need also.

Good eye. They are too short. I have injectors mounted in a Kjet head and a custom fuel rail, so I COULD change the mounts to fit any injector, but I might as well find some that are the same as the Bosch 0280155830 (Volvo, 390cc?) injectors I have now.

Except there’s nothing that stops someone from copying the “authenticity” tags and putting it on their own product. This has already proven to be an issue.

My point was if the price seems too good to be true then it’s likely not a genuine product. If there’s any question, stay off eBay and buy from a reputable Bosch reseller.

The way the authenticity codes work is that they're unique per item and should only be confirmed once. If multiple people type in the same code, the website is supposed to ask you where you bought the item, and other details, so that the manufacturer can confirm it's genuine. If the code is completely made up, it will fail immediately.

Go to Bosch's website and enter the codes in DET's image. All it says is "The code you entered is correct" without out question that it's been entered multiple times already. This is the exact issue people are facing.

It would be nice and less problematic if it worked the way you're stating, but unfortunately it doesn't work that way.

Do your research, ask the seller questions.

What I didn't mention is the first time I keyed in the codes, and fat fingered one of them, I got a FAIL message back (don't recall the exact wording). So, the site didn't accept anything that was entered to validate the authenticity. However this wouldn't preclude the list of say, a dozen phony codes to receive approvals.

Could the seller(s) be smart enough (knowing those are fakes) to ensure each buyer gets X count of unique codes? His field of buyers, with 4, 6, and 8 cylinders, would leave him with fractured sets of these false codes..... which is going to make it more difficult to move the leftovers. Also possible, just more difficult (as my seller has these listed "by the piece")

The small "hologram" foil tags require you to look straight on them to read.... seems like a lot of trouble to go to for production & selling of fakes. Possible however? Of course it is.

Your further suppose that the BOSCH site is a complete phony, to allow said Chinese fakers to flood the market with these parts. Doesn't it seem like a lot of trouble to go to in order to sell injectors for $50 a piece, setting up the phony authentication website? I'm no web master, but it passed my sniff test when all 4 injectors, correctly keyed in, were authenticated.

If any of you digital bit flippers can verify that said BOSCH site originated somewhere in China, that would be useful information; likewise if you can provide proof this BOSCH authentication site is a hoax, please post it in this thread.... the least we can do (if Mr. GP is correct) is warn others away.

I worked for the Germans for 18 years..... this address looks/smells legit. I'll keep digging and see if BOSCH has posted warnings of fakery using the www.PROTECT.BOSCH.com site......

Nobody ever said the Bosch authentication site is phony. It’s just easy to manipulate to create a positive result, as I’ve already pointed out with your injectors.

If it works like Bob described, it would be a much better system.

I've got your point. Certainly they could be copies; I've not taken them out of the box yet, just ran the auth. codes. There are several video clips showing the differences between the copies and the OEM authentics.... we'll see where these fall.

Monday when they are back in the office, I'll talk to BOSCH USA Tech Support.... certainly if they are being scammed with copies, they should be well aware. I find no web links for this specific PN reporting fakes which have the codes/links as mine have, but of course that proves nothing.

Regarding Bob's comment, who knows how it works? I don't write web site code..... would they bother to go to the trouble of counting auth. attempts with given #s? From a business standpoint, I think it depends on the value of the parts. I'd be more inclined to protect $XXX unit cost parts than $XX.

I'll attempt to resolve this Monday, and will share the results. Unlike others on TB, I'll admit when I'm wrong.

This is the most recent comparison pic showing the level of fake 968's, listed as 2015:

If I find anything more recent, I'll link it to this thread.

Pulled one of the injectors out to see if the obvious differences noted in the "fake" link were there.

None of the obvious differences shown in the (listed as) 2015 pics, are evident in mine. The OEM Volvo P/N is shown properly.

Here for comparison sake is a group of used injectors one of our members just purchased from a guy parting a S60R: https://imgur.com/zLg0RYI

If my set are in fact fake, they certainly are getting more clever at making them. I'll be speaking to BOSCH USA this week to see what they can tell me.
