Question TICKTICKTICK-maintenannnceee

Just a heads up, kind of noob here.

I have a 1990 760 T with a B230ft, with oil squirter (I have yet to take the thing apart so really who knows if thats true, but hey fingers crossed I guess)

Ive been experiencing a ticking noise since I bought the car a couple months ago and have been told many times by a friend that it is not the lifters, it is not piston slap and is a pretty normal noise. It is not a deep ticking noise and I am not too worried about it, but perhaps I should be? I cant hear it while I am driving, just when I pop the hood to mess around. Whats everybody else's experience with their properly functioning bricks? Is a slight ticking pretty normal? I check the oil pretty much every time I drive it cause I know it has a small leak, so I am inclined to think that a lack of oil is not the issue. Anywho, if youre still reading this, I really appreciate it and if you leave some feedback thanks even more!

No squirters in 1990 unless someone installed them.

Post vid to YouTube and then share the link here so we can hear.

My guess is it’s normal Volvo noise.

The other responses are more likely, but I have also had a more arrhythmic ticking - more pronounced on on decel - from a broken valve spring.

Does getting louder on acceleration only happen with an exhaust manifold leak? I found a leak on the front pipe gasket that I fixed (hopefully, so far so good) over the weekend, but I still get the ticking on acceleration and silence when decelerating.

Exhaust manifold leaks (usually) only make noise under load, which is usually during acceleration.
