Default 240 Diesel final gear

I've searched and searched and can't seem to find what final gear originally came with a 1981 244 D6 with a 5-speed.

does anyone know?

lol

I guess I should have consulted the owners manual that came with the car.

Being Canadian car it has 3.73s

I wonder why Canadian cars have a shorter final?

Maybe at that time Canada did not have the fuel consumption regulations that US cars did, so Canada market cars could keep the better performance that the shorter final drive ratios provided.

Probably right. Just like how many Canadian cars from other manufacturers came standard with a LSD type diff as standard equipment. Nissans come to mind. All Canadian spec 240SXs had a VLSD. Not the "best" but it was better than nothing.
