Short question;

Do the M45 and the M46 gearbox share the same shifter linkage?

If not...bolt the shifter basket from the gearbox that comes out of your car on the gearbox that goes into your car.

I have an M45 for which I've misplaced all the shifter linkage parts. I also have an M46 that is complete with all shifter parts and I want to use them for my M45.

The shift linkage is the same between M45 and M46 for the 240 series Volvos.

But there are early and late styles of M45/M46 gear box cases and accompanying shift linkages and you can't interchange between the 2 styles of shift linkage as the mounting points are different on the gear box cases.

Be aware that the shift linkages for diesel equipped 240s, all 260 series and all 700 series Volvos are different lengths than a 240 and won't line up with the shifter opening.

Thank you. What year did they change it? My M45 is a 76 and my M46 is an 81.
