240 steering u joint

You could try an aftermarket one. While it might not last as long as an original. if it fixes the car for a number of years it's worth it. I would check out skandix for example.

iPd has what appears to be a ScanTech lower steering U-joint (only 2 stakes on the cross shaft caps) but it's 10 days out according to their site.

eEuro has MTC lower steering U-joints in stock.

Skandix also appears to be selling ScanTech.

You may want to reconsider using either one after reading this thread although the car has an LS engine swap, the PS wan't connected and the steering hit the exhaust for a while which all may have contributed to it's early demise.

IIRC, MTC is another brand name for Scam-Tech, aka PPS. So, it should be the same part.

No guarantees, but I replaced the stock steering shaft (the bulky rubber isolated section) on my 240 with a new part from Coleman racing. I'm not sure what the actual specs on the Volvo steering shaft is, probably metric(???), but the 3/4" 48 spline shaft I used worked properly with the stock Volvo u-joints (after cleaning the splines up with a pick for a bit).

Which tends to make me think that the 3/4" 48 spline u-joints they sell would also work.

The shaft I used that fit properly with the stock u-joints: http://www.colemanracing.com/Steering-Shaft-Splined-P4078.aspx

U-joint that should(?) work: http://www.colemanracing.com/Steering-Joint-34-x-34-P4845.aspx
(the 48 spline version)

Here's a version that tightens a different way: http://www.colemanracing.com/Steering-Joint-Split-Splined-P3589.aspx

The also have a racecaR aluminum version.

Those look promising. I need to replace my A/M unit that developed some play after a few years.

th

B4 it snaps in half right thru the bubbles and inclusions in the pot metal.
