pretty simple idea just gotta make sure all the clearances are nice and tight but not to much that it wont move.
 
I like the use of the ball joint. Does the shifter have tha return to center feel? So you wont miss third gear?

Yes the shifter is a hurst shifter and it has some very heavy springs, im not sure how it would feel with a stock shifter. Probably like garbage.
