Atom's Amazon Wagon Project Update Thread

This is how you ship calipers when you don?t want FedEx to chip up the hard work again (also when you like building over the top stuff)

I included the socket I had to grind down to fit in the recess in the bottom. The calipers are bolted through the bottom with standoffs and nuts on the inside so they can?t back out. I just hope they don?t take it as a challenge and really beat the crap out of it.

Only grownup TBer's with jobs will be willing to pay to have something like the shipped to them.

I paid for the shipping. I didn?t want to worry about them receiving damaged goods again. Insurance for my piece of mind. The plywood is light too. Calipers are heavy.

Interestingly enough though, those front calipers are a full pound lighter than the original iron 122 calipers. The rotor on the other hand...9 lb heavier.

Went to Florida for the weekend to surprise our friend on her birthday and got some time alone with the wife.

Finally got the news that after 606 days worth of foster care and court we finally get to have our foster be a permanent part of our family.

Took Monday off to do service work on both the dailys at my house. A couple oil changes, a PCV system swap, a motor mount, rear brake shoes, turned rotors and clean/re-grease my brakes.

Spent the evening after work on Tuesday and tonight to rough out the major parts of the damage on the Amazon. I’m not gonna go into detail on that work, I’ll just post the pics

Been an eventful seven days. Still have more pulling to do and then hammer/dolly and shrinking. It’ll be some more evenings

Congrats on the new addition as well as the substantial progress on the quarter!

Having a great run since the fender bender, congrats on all accounts, especially the adoption! Extra Volvo points for that Adam and Mrs. ‘Badass Volvo Dude’.

Also, killer job on pulling that massive dent, worked perfectly.

Thanks guys. Pretty sure I’m gonna grab some beer on my way home from work tomorrow and keep tugging on the metal until it’s not appropriate for me to be making noise anymore. I need to have primer on it by the end of the weekend whether it’s got filler on it or not. Supposed to rain pretty much all of next week.

Looks like it's coming along nicely, given the circumstances. Any issues so far with the seam weld between the (former) rear door and the quarter panel? I imagine it would be more difficult to "unlock the damage" from that area if it's creased.

Yeah, that?s one part I haven?t pulled all the way out yet. It?ll need a piece of flat stock welded to it and some serious tugging with the Ford ?stump? in my driveway. I?ll probably get to that area tonight.

So much more still to do. Enough for tonight though. I was feeling really overwhelmed by the scope of what I have to do to this thing early today and was a bit discouraged, but I forced myself to go out and start moving metal again. I’m glad I did. At least I made some progress. Tomorrow’s another day.

Nothing cool is easy and nothing easy is cool.
