So this is how it started.

And this is how it ended (for me at least)

On Thursday, I left home loaded down with a big griddle, a grill, a motorcycle, a wife, a kid, and all of the necessary accouterments thereof lookin' like Jed Clampett.

And arrived at the lodge about an hour later.

Sam, Sarah, Mr. Bill, David, and a few others also arrived Thursday night, as did a few others, and we immediately commenced bacon cooking.

The weather was perfect

The next day, people began flooding in.

A wild JPBTurbo appears!

Followed shortly thereafter by the Alabama crew, JohnMC, and some of the Charlotte people.

Then took a drive, winding back up the lodge for beer and bbq

Saturday night started to blur together for me...

I know there was excellent bbq (which I tasted twice)

And this is pretty much where my memories end.

So let's see your photos

These are the only two photos I took:

How many hundreds of lbs. of bacon did y'all consume? LOL Thanks for the pics, looks like a beautiful place. Maybe next year....

19, including what Alden brought.

We had just barely enough.

I think next year we can step up our cooking capacity game a bit. I'm going to get a much larger setup so that the fries don't take over an hour to cook 10 lbs. worth. Maybe sort out another griddle, etc.

This was my first volvo meet since I left Atlanta in 2007. So I guess after this meet I can do more than one every 10 years.

I had a million things to do at home with endless unfinished projects, including my ride which was leaking at the seams, so I took the advice of a friend and flew to ATL and drove up with the ATL Mikes! (myself an emeritus member of the ATL-Mike's club).

I had a blast. Will be at the next and every one after... next time with a car. Thanks everyone!!

Wakey wakey Friday morning. Wash cars and inspection.

As I waited, I watched Mikejr's cat catch a chipmunk.

The drive up was beautiful. I miss the mountains of the south. View shotgun from 122.

well and menu simplification. If we're doing hash browns eggs and bacon we probably don't need 'em 'air pancakes (or vise versa).

also just the sheer amount of food was over the top, we need to get a little better grasp on head counts and actual food requirements as such. lol

Agreed. Several people brought more than anticipated, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it does tend to lead to a rush to cook EVERYTHING just because we have it.

Also, next year, I think we should preplan the cooler situation a bit better. We don't really need freezer space, but we do need fridge space. Desperately. Some prior planning there would have gone a long way (keeping large coolers dedicated to certain things, putting boxes of things in bags and then on ice instead of just throwing it in the cold ice-soup, etc.

That Saturday breakfast that started at 8 and was eaten at 11 really threw that day off. Everything got eaten, but yeah, efficiency is key.

We need fire starters too for that damp wood.

I wonder if we could bring a half metal barrel for an outdoor fire maybe on the gravel area where we had the chairs set up.
