Its a shame there isn't a kit to replace the shifter with one that's solid, but also whats needed to relocate the button into the dash or something.
When I switched shops In civilian life and got out of the airforce I lost my access to the lathes and mills I worked with. I can adapt stock shifters no problem and turn stock ones into solid ones without the machines but when I can actually get some spare cash to buy a mill and a lathe I could actually make some stuff for the Volvo community. There is ways to make a solid shifter and run a cord through it as well and yes others have put the button in the dash before. I may give the m46 in the wagon one more chance with a P-type OD when alls said and done but I'm pretty burned out on them. I don't look forward to pulling these T5's in the heat next week.
This may be the point where I really think about dropping some money on a mill and a lathe. I've been wanting to work for myself a while anyways. 2013 could be the start of a new life
