How to cap a brake line on a 740?

Anyone know how to add a cap to a brake line on a 740?

This is the line I'm trying to cap. I've taken off the part that screws into my caliper - Or maybe I should say I've taken off the caliper and am trying to cap that part of the line that screws into it.

I grabbed a 3/8th in 16 and 24 thread acorn nut. Neither really screw onto threaded protrusion of the line. I get about 1 rotation with the 3/8th 24 acorn nut.

Did I grab the wrong sized acorn nut? Do I need a M10 1.0 fine threaded acorn nut? I am having trouble finding these if anyone can provide a link? What can I do to cap a line - besides crimping it or destroying it from further use?

Before any <s>trolls</s>one complains I'm not using my caliper - I'm trying to get a rebuild kit but it's going to take a lot more time to refit the caliper than it is to cap the brakes. So in the meantime I'd like to cap it.

If you depress the brake pedal halfway and are clever enough to make something to hold it there, it will keep most of the fluid in the system. The MC only lets fluid in when the pedal is completely up, partially depressed blocks the feed holes.

Maybe an 1/8" NPT cap with female threads. 1/8" NPT is nearly the same thread as M10-1.0. If you're trying to do male threads use a 1/8" NPT plug with male threads. 3/8 x 24 threads won't work. 1/8" NPT has 27 threads per inch.

Yes.

As long as you're not planning on driving on the street, do whatever you want.

If you brake hard and the front end yanks to the side enough for you to plow into a crowded bus stop, be sure to apologize for any deaths that result.

if you're about to stop for those children in the crosswalk and the "wrong size" cap pops off, you lose brake fluid pressure, and you run them all down, explain to the parents at the funerals that you have a rebuild kit coming "real soon".

Rubber hose ,clamp, bolt shoved in the end, another clamp your just trying to keep the fluid from leaking out rite?

Simply top up the reservoir on the master cylinder, and put a piece of tape over the vent hole in the cap. Nary a drop will leave the open line on the other end.

It's in year, oh about 40, for anything with an easily sealable reservoir cap --- it only works every time. Have also put a bit of plastic over the reservoir and then attached cap to seal it off. Important to top up reservoir. If air can't get into the top, fluid can't get out the bottom - like holding your finger over the end of a straw.
