Anyone know how to add a cap to a brake line on a 740?

This is the line I'm trying to cap. I've taken off the part that screws into my caliper - Or maybe I should say I've taken off the caliper and am trying to cap that part of the line that screws into it.
I grabbed a 3/8th in 16 and 24 thread acorn nut. Neither really screw onto threaded protrusion of the line. I get about 1 rotation with the 3/8th 24 acorn nut.
Did I grab the wrong sized acorn nut? Do I need a M10 1.0 fine threaded acorn nut? I am having trouble finding these if anyone can provide a link? What can I do to cap a line - besides crimping it or destroying it from further use?
Before any <s>trolls</s>one complains I'm not using my caliper - I'm trying to get a rebuild kit but it's going to take a lot more time to refit the caliper than it is to cap the brakes. So in the meantime I'd like to cap it.
