Need your expertise:
Picked up car from shop. Next day engine is screaming. Sounds like belts.
1993 940 Turbo
1989 740 red block engine (replaced 940 engine, as of early 2020)
Upon inspection after driving the car for a while (screaming had stopped) observed the vertical bracket holding alternator to engine had sheared off - cracked - broken; at about the half way mark (horizontal crack)

Only one bolt and the alternator belt are keeping alternator from falling off.

What happened to my car ?
Anyone know where to find parts ?

Please help. Your knowledge & personal time very much appreciated.

That kind of thing can happen due to corrosion and it doesn't help if people made the belt too tight. You have a few choices. You can remove the existing bracket and have it welded. I would put a request in the wanted section of the forum and someone will have the part for you. The third choice is to see if a new bracket is still available and wait for it to come in from Sweden.
