740 heater valve JY replacement

Will this heater control valve work in my 87 740? Pulled it from a Ford Expedition

Works the same way, IE closes with vacuum applied. Only difference I can see is that my old valve had holes in the diaphragm to allow some coolant through even when the valve was closed where as it looks like this one just seals it right off. Would that be an issue?

I would think the cylinder head cooling would suffer if the coolant doesn't circulate through the heater shutoff valve.

Would it block circulation to the head? I would have thought it would only stop coolant from reaching the heater core.
