Vancity Volvos

Found this guy again at Park Royal:

I always love seeing old Volvos on the streets here. They're not just things to collect, but they're cars that are still being used today. Take this lovely 242 DL I snapped at Park Royal the other day:

Last night (after a couple wobbly pops) while I was waiting for the bus I spotted a black post '90 744 with dual round driving lights mounted on the front bumper, yellow rally style mud flaps, and yellow stickers on the bottom of the front doors. Driving down kingsway just past broadway. The details are a bit hazy, but it was sweet and I've never seen in before...

I think the yellow 242 might be NotSoFresh on here. He had a car very similar anyways. And I see that blue wagon on meshies all the time in Yaletown. I actually see a lot of older Volvos down here but they're all stock and boring :-P

Yep, by a large margin most 240s I see are still driven by old people and/or hippies. There's a blue one with flower stickers I've been meaning to put up on here.

Heh, yeah whenever I see one that's cleaner or lower looking I'm all gawking in the window and it's invariably someone over 50 who looks like one (or more) of the following; librarian, accountant, professor, courier, great-grandparent, hating-every-second-of-their-miserable-existence. :-P

Im not too sure how i feel about it... I kinda want to paint it the same black as the bumpers, but i feel like theres no point in that. Or maybe paint part of the bumpers silver? or go for some other style bumpers body color matched ones? Something doesnt look quite right...

P.s. Aj, I found something to use for the clips:

lolololol

...someone actually suddgested them in a old thread on here. I'm going to try it (taking off the silver pieces obvs)

If I didnt just re-paint my bumpers black I probably would of body color matched them...

Maybe I should see if that guy wants the side skirts.

I was also thinking of maybe doing my bumpers like this:
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mmbrown/3625143259/" title="Volvo 740 Intercooled Turbo by mark.mitchell.brown, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3540/3625143259_1650551624.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="Volvo 740 Intercooled Turbo"></a>

and today after work I ghetto mocked up if I painted the side skirts black:

...using a garbage bag

Down at Spanish banks yesterday, someone parked a sweet 1800 next to my parents 940 and my friends R. 3 generations!

PS, anyone have a spare set of 7/9 wagon tails, headlights and corners they want to lend me so I can pass out of province?

Ha, a meet actually happened:

Some guy in an S60 also showed up later, apparently to sell something to some random guy. He walked up to us and wondered where we all came from. Some said Turbobricks, some said Volvospeed, but really, the answer was "craigslist."

And there was also this winner:

The PT Loser, Canadian Tire Edition.
