my pleasure to help out.
Yes, it's three speed+0. Yes, it was expensive: 500 euros in 2009 or 2010, can't remember. Quite useful, though. Too bad it's not available anymore, but this other friend of mine who bought the very last one (probably) has a DIY replicating project on that.
Last time we spoke about the subject he told me he had a clue on where to find exactly the same fan, basing on serial no. (Bosch or AEG). Should ask again.
Jack, you can get no.5 from any wagon, but honestly I don't remember two of those on my car: maybe my mechanic had to adapt the installation because I already had a Monroe compressor in the well.

I think that maybe this cargo area fan may have been an accessory to compliment the 3rd row seat in the 245, to make those passengers a bit more comfortable ?

Just a thought............. BTW, what color is the lense on the fan's Center Console Rocker Switch ?

There are a number of small radial 12V fans available for computer use that might be easily adaptable for this.

I think definitely it all started with Polis K9 245: they made more accessories for dog transportation. My good old leo sure loved it

When 3rd row in use, the fan makes temperature more even inside the car, helps taking out some condensation and sure draws fresher air back there.
About the computer fan, maybe a solution. But when you stand outside of the back vent grill you can feel quite some air coming out. On third position the thing really blows..
