Mr.Borrie's 760 TIC

They ^^^ have it right. We ran chipped Motronic at 15psi, and the combustion chambers were white...i.e. horribly lean. All the rest of the time it was horribly rich. Fail.

LH is a good call. We went for MS, but LH is probably easier.

cheers

I am not running a MBC.. should make no difference that it gets boost faster if it doesn't go beyond 10 PSI or does it?

Edit: i mean its now running crap true but does the header and bigger turbo at the same psi should make a diffrence that much.. prob it does i know you guys wont bug me with it this much if it really dangah to the manifold

Hehe. Hehehe. Hehehehe. You are in for a fun time :) Excuse my ignorance...I'm sure I should know...but what turbo?

For example...from memory (and if I understood the thread correctly), Rob Prince is hoping to add somewhere in the order of 50whp at the same boost pressure, thanks to going from a GT2871R to a BW S265.

cheers

James

A cossie T3 iirc.

I don't see the point in adding all those go faster bits to the engine when you've got a LH2.4 '98 block at home.
Bolt those parts to that block and put it in!

Lol yeah its okay dude i just dont know all the stuff a bricker should know yet.

But yeah if a turbo at same boost can add 50 HP i'm sure that you can srew up a engine sorry for MY ignorance but im just asking so i know what to expect, not to be a annoying kid

For the record i'm going from the stock turbo to the Cosworth Sierra 4x4 turbo (thats should be the bigger one)

i still lack the flywheel and need to sort out the wiringloom, also want to swap the heads over ect.. all kinds of stuff i'v never done so i don want to rush that.. but its good to know that i do have a spare on the stand right now

As far as I'm aware, only the RS500 had the "big" (i.e. .63 A/R) cossie exhaust housing. I think both 2wd and 4x4 cossies has the smaller housing...but I could be wrong. It's still a kick-ass turbo, either way. I thought maybe you were going for something larger...I wouldn't worry so much about the cossie. It's a great turbo, though. I'm almost certainly going to end up running one myself.

Keep the boost down and you should be fine. Or monitor AFR with a wideband. Just don't crank it up without knowing what's going on. We also gained quite a bit of extra power when we ditched Motronic. Also, before, boost was stable at 10psi. With MS...mad boost creep. More exhaust gas energy...more timing, I presume.

I'm not trying to be an a-hole or take the piss if that's how I'm coming across...I just really don't want to see you blow your **** up, as I know how much that sucks. I was laughing at the image of the smile on your face during the first drive. :) When Damo had Ozzy's "2.0 kit" (SSAC header, Cossie T3, A-cam, exhaust, chips, 18psi, etc) fitted, he went straight away from 155bhp to 250+. I think he had fun on that first drive! Maybe you'll not be so impressed, I don't know, but I think you'll find it's a really nice upgrade.

cheers

I wont be cracking up the boost untill i get a JAW thanks for the story makes me feel a bit better.

Still waiting for the lines from J2 for the cossie so i went ahead and installed the V90 seat fivehundred brought me yesterday

Just now need the wiring diagram so i can hook up the power + memory + heated seats of the V90 to the 760 loom

Boris and i went to china

Man, i love this car. If i can come out half as clean and fast as you do, i'll be waaaay more than content.

Then again- If i can find an SE kit =p

Thanks dude, SE kits are harder to come by here than in the states ( they where always a option unlike the 91 model iirc in the us)

Those seats do very well in that car.

Comfortable, huh? :)

Yes they are Fred, why did you had to show me your seats i have been wanting them since i saw them in your redblock estate :-P

Also i got this in the mail today a temp gauge that fits the cluster! sweet. too bad its in F then again my boost gauge is in PSI

Yeah, i like the small increments of PSI.

But yeah man, never even seen an SE kit here. But, also only ever seen 3 740's in town, mine being the only one without significant body damage. Meh.

Those seats look really good, are they a bolt-on thing? I wonder if a rear seat fits as well.

And about the Motronic. I have a Motronic from a B200ET car running a B23ET with a modified cylinder head and a non-stock cam, with header and a KKK K24 turbo.

It idles around 13,5:1 AFR, cruises at 14,2 to 14,9 AFR at speeds from 80 km/h to 120 km/h and at full throttle i have 11,5 to 11,7 AFR. It also starts right up just by touching the key. It just works. It does have a chip, and i do use an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator though.

Absolutely when it's time for more fun the Motronic most likely has to go, but it's really not as bad as people make it out to be. At least not mine is.

Wow...that's cool! We never put a wideband on Ryan's 740 on Motronic, but you could smell how rich it was at idle and on cruise, and the CCs were white thanks to being lean. That was chipped, but not with a adjustable FPR. The old engine in Chesh's 740 imploded...seemingly due to detonation. That was a 230ET with a big-valve 531 and a T3 @ 15psi on chipped Motronic.

I'm sure it can be made to work though...and I'd love to know. I kinda wish we'd run it with the wideband in.

cheers

James
